I'm not sure if most of our animal friends in other places will understand this because I'm sure most of them live in houses with yards and stuff. But living in the city, even though we have a big home, we live in a building with lots of other pets and people. We have really high and neat ceilings...well not really ceilings at all but rafters. Our daddies say this is what is called a loft. Anyway because other pets and people live in the same building sometimes we can hear them, every now and then we hear the cats upstairs rolling balls or our neighbor watching his TV loud. That's why our daddies say we get a little quieter during the night so we don't disturb other people. We don't mind and it's something we all expected when we moved into our big home years ago... and we like the high exposed beams and wood floors. But some people only complain about it!
Woofer is sure telling the truth. Sure sometimes I would like to bark alot at night, but I really don't need to and it's better that I don't anyway. Our daddies say that people are paying over half a million dollars to live in this building and then some complain about the noise. Well I would think that anyone that pays alot of money to live somewhere and especially in a loft, should be smart enough to know that sound will carry more than a regular house and if they don't then they should spend more money to fix it themselves and just stop complaining to everyone how it's the building's fault. I know some people do cause noise problems and we've seen the police come to quiet them down, but almost everyone else here is good and gets along. I guess we just want to say that things are different where you live and there is give and take in every situation. We are very happy here and our neighbors are all good and get along and respect us (well we occassionally bark through the walls at each other). We just hope others either learn to live with the way our homes are, change their own loft, or move. Thank you Rick for helping Dylan from "Jersey City, NJ" submit his "rebarks".
Ladee, I'm SO glad you brought up the fact that some PEOPLE make more noise than our barking sometimes!! Late at night, or when I'm taking a nap during the day, sometimes it wakes me up! And, I'm pretty protective, so of course I have to bark! When my daddies want me to stop barking, they say NO in a pretty stern voice. Maybe humans should do that to each other. I know most of the time, it works for me. You guys are so used to being around a lot of other pets, and, well, I'm pretty used to be around you guys and the cats and we get along (I know sometimes I get too excited!). But I guess some people just aren't used to having to be considerate of others and they do things just for themselves. If a bunch of dogs and tons of cats can learn to get along, live together and respect each other, I would think people could too! Thank you Barbara for helping Che'(pronounced Chay) from "Tampa. FL" submit her "resnorts".
Hey, what's with the noise stuff? Who complained? Just tell me, and I'll send them a note. You guys live in a pretty special place, and with it come some (not many) disadvantages - and one would be that sounds travel. But, that is to be expected. I think I was told that your daddies and the people that live next door were looking into sound proofing your units (or at least something to add more privacy). What happened there? I think Barbara told me that the lady's name is Robin? Sounds like a pretty cool place where you all live. Must be nice to be around so many humans that love animals. Bye for now. By the way, it is really cold right now and getting colder!!! Burrrrrr, and I don't have ANY fur. | ||||
