It seems like there was alot going on this week on TV and the newspapers, as well as people talking about marriage issues. I guess a few people in the country have power to say what's right for everyone and try to keep some families apart. Even the president doesn't want to allow some people in love to be able to get married and enjoy all of the same rights that all people in this country should be able to enjoy. I think it makes sense for anyone to be able to get married that wants to and enjoy the benefits that the country offers married people. I guess maybe if 2 people aren't allowed to get married than maybe they shouldn't have to pay the taxes that go to support programs in the country that married people use at all, like family court, family assistance and social security to name a few. Maybe instead all of these people should not use this money to pay taxes that they aren't priveledged enough to use and save it better benefit their own unprotected issues?
Ladee, you do bring up some valid points, there are alot of bigoted people in this country and even some of those with such uneducated opinions have been downtrodden themselves in the past, it seems like people should learn from history, especially in a country that is supposed to be based on freedoms. Some people are scared that a new "definition" of marriage would create problems in society, but it seems to me that it would just tighten the fabric of communities and the strength of the nation. I know most people that we know, don't even care of it's called "marriage", let all of the small minded people fighting for their own enclave retain that title. Civil Union status would be fine as well, as long as it granted the same deserved rights from society and government as its "sacred" brother. | ||
