Since his Birthday is next Tuesday and we only write on Fridays I wanted to make sure that we tell Poppa Tony Happy Birthday. He takes such good and loving care of me and the rest of his family and is such a good person (ok he does get mad and grumpy sometimes too), I just want him to have the happiest birthday ever. I can't wait to spend the whole next year being his companion and helping him get through his 36th year. Poppa Tony is the greatest and deserves only the best, so I hope he gets alot of cool stuff (and shares any toys with me of course).
I thought some of you might be interested learning more about my daddy so here goes: Poppa Tony was born in New Orleans, La., Sept. 30, 1924, d. Aug. 25, 1984, was a Southern Gothic novelist, journalist, and celebrated man-about-town. He was widely hailed as a stylist after publication of his earliest writings. These include his novel of alienated youth, Other Voices, Other Rooms (1948), the Gothic short stories in A Tree of Night (1949), and the lighter novel The Grass Harp (1951; play, 1952). The novella Breakfast at Tiffany's (1958; film, 1961) introduced the charming, hedonistic Holly Golightly as a heroine. Childhood reflections formed the basis of two short stories that were adapted for television: "A Christmas Memory" (1956) and "The Thanksgiving Visitor" (1968). ... Oh wait that was Truman Capote, now I feel stupid, even though they are almost the same age my daddy isn't an author. I just really want to let him know I want him to have a very Happy Birthday and I love him very much!
First, I know I've been missing from the Bark Off for a couple of weeks. Quite simply, it's my daddy's fault. I admit it...I do need his help to turn on the computer and sometimes to work the mouse. Anyway -- Uncle Tony had a GREAT birthday party! (see the pictures) There were LOTS of balloons!! Probably 250! And a lot of cool people to play with. And, some people were RAVING about the brownies! (you know who you are) I hope he felt the love, because he deserves it! He does so much for all of us! Happy Birthday Unlce Tony! If you're feeling old, just remember in dog years you're 252...and you'll feel better. | |||
