Since we won't be posting a column until after Thanksgiving, this one will be dedicated to the holiday. We all know how the holiday started, but let's face it, no dogs have ever been included in the story, so let's just forget the origins and talk a little about what it should mean to us now...Thanksgiving...or giving thanks! I know I can give thanks that our daddies take such good care of us and never neglect us. I know that we can be some trouble and cause some problems some times (as well as all of our cat siblings)..but our daddies always make sure that we have a good and safe environment and get our food when we need it, and go outside and take walks regularly. Once I was left alone and scared for so many hours, I wasn't sure I was going to make it out alive...and I know I have some scare issues because of that now, but I could not be more thankful to be part of the family that I am. I want to tell our daddies and all of our friends that I am truly thankful to be a part of their lives and I love all of them very much!
I'm glad that we have a time now to say what we are thankful for, because I know I can be difficult and mouthy quite a bit, but I value what I have and love all of our family so much! When our daddies got me, I was saved from being tied to a doorknob in a lonely basement where I had to use the bathroom on myself. I used to bark to protect the little kids around me when I thought I heard intruders, but my family then would hit me hard in the face with a magazine or spray me with water until I couldn't breathe very well. I'm not just thankful that I was pulled away from that, but I am also thankful that I am sure I could never find a better home...ever!! My daddies get me presents almost every week (i really love toys, cherish them, never tear them up and never forget them); and treat me like I am truly a princess. They also seem to usually like that I speak up and let them know when people are at the door. I have never been happier...and I love all of our cat siblings, our friends in the building and out when we are walking, and our really close friends that know that we are valued, loved and such a large and important part of our families! (Dylan, Sofia, and Joyce's & Ann's babies-to-be)..we could never be in a better environment and for this I am truly Thankful! Thank you Rick for helping Dylan from "Jersey City, NJ" submit his "rebarks".
Hi everyone. From what I can tell about Thanksgiving, I am very thankful that I am not a Turkey. But, I am also thankful for my home, my friends (Ladee, Woofer, Tony, Greg and everyone else who pets me), and my daddies and their friends who all seem to like me too! They really, really like me! When I was little, all I wanted to do was play, and be good....but nobody wanted me...until my daddies found me. I'm very thankful for that. Someday maybe everyone will be wanted....and then we will all be VERY Thankful! I wanted to mention something else today though. Sometimes, I have accidents. After I have them, I usually get yelled at, and my daddies aren't very happy. But, I guess after a while, they realize that it was just an accident and they forgive me. I think they see that accidents are usually unavoidable and that what really matters is that everyone is safe, and MOST of the time, I make them happy and they make me happy and I wouldn't know what to do without them. That's what I wanted to say.
Thank you Val (Greg's dad) & Claudia for helping Molly & Alex from "Tampa, FL" submit a reply.
As a dog I'm very grateful to be the Queen and boss of my house. I get just about everything I want (could use more treats) and boss my brother Alex around. Let me tell you about Alex. He came to live w/us about 4 months ago. At first all he would do is hide in the closet. You see he had had a very hard time. He was abandoned in the projects and had to live on mice and rats for awhile. Then he was captured by a group of people that have a shelter for cats. Since he was very sick w/an infection he wouldn't have lived much longer on his own. But they nursed him back to health and JUST as he was getting healthy he was adopted. But that didn't work out! The day after he went to his new home they took him to be declawed and he almost died from that. Then he had a hernia operation. He was about to give up on life when he came to live w/me. Now he is happy and healthy and very grateful for a good home. He even puts up w/me. So this year I'm thankful that Alex ! came to live w/me and that he is now my VERY GOOD friend. | ||||
