Alot of the time on the news I hear when animals and people don't get along and sometimes humans even abuse or kill animals (I even remember some of this from along time ago). Sometimes when I'm out walking with our daddies I growl and bark at some people because they seem scary or look a certain way and I want to protect us. Alot of kids around here look like they could be in gangs and want to do mean things. This story has a good ending though...While poppa Greg was working the other night he saw some "gangsta" lookin kid messing around at the garbage cage across the street and after looking real hard with him, we both decided that there was a little cat trapped in the chain link area. The kid kept looking around and walking away when he saw someone. Then he tied bags together trying to get at the cat...Finally he just left. Poppa Greg was trying to figure out a way to get in there and get the cat out before it got tortured, when he noticed the kid come back and jump up on the fence and climb over, where he then put the kitty on the roof and rescued him, letting him amble away happily. That made me so happy to see that sometimes first impressions are wrong and lots of different people still love and care for animals and want to help those out on the street without homes. I know it made my daddy feel really good about things too.
I agree that it was a cool thing for the kid to do....I even snuck a couple pictures while he was doing it. I have to admit while I was taking these pictures (and trust me that it's a task trying to take pictures in the dark with these paws)...I was a little worried that poppa Greg was going to have to run after the kid for doing something wrong. But now we can look at them and feel good that people out there are kind and maybe other people notice things like this going on, and things we see and talk about don't always have to be bad...Anyway here are some pictures, sorry about the quality but it was dark and I'm a dog after all!
What a great story! I can't believe I didn't hear about it before now. I guess it's important to remember that there are a lot more good people around us than there are bad people. We just hear about the bad people too much! It's good to hear about a good one! Maybe, if we ever see him walking around the neighborhood, we can say hi and thank him for saving our friend. Great pictures Woofer! My daddy won't let me play with the camera! Thank you Karen from "Cape Woolamai" for helping "Charo" submit a reply.
Ladee thank you so much for sharing your story. It's amazing in life how just when our faith in mankind is sinking fast, something touching and heartwarming like this comes along. It's almost sad, that we get to a point where we automatically think the worst isn't it. My Mum got all teary, lol. Hey Woofer you did a great job with the pics buddy, well done. Dylan my mummy wants to know if you are Maltese, she swears you are. You remind her of my brother who's over the bridge now, his name was Tuppence/Tuppy and Mum had him for 16 years. She says he was her best boy ever, apart from me of course. Great reporting job guys, you make a terrific team. Sniffs and licks to all.
Charo, you've asked a very loaded question! Like Ladee and Woofer, I was rescued by my daddies (THANKS UNCLE TONY!) a year ago, so only I know what I am, and I think it's fun to watch the humans guess, don't you? Uncle Greg says I'm a poodle, but I'm NOT! I hear my daddies say that they think I'm part Bijon with maybe some terrier in me. So, if you ever hear Uncle Greg say "Hey Poodle" to me, just ignore him. He's just trying tease my daddy Rick. Thank you Rob Wordie from "Melbourne" for helping "Bullitt" submit a reply.
Bullitt's Comment:
Bullitt, it's ok. On here, we don't have to pretend that we can't type or don't know how to use computers. It's just us on here, so our humans won't know! Feel free to type away -- when your humans are gone, of course. And, if you have a picture, send it to my Uncle Greg at greg@gregandtony.com. We love to see who we're talking to. | ||||||||
