Well this Sunday is Mother's Day and Even though I know it was celebrated way back in Ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the mother of Gods, and in England on Mothering Sunday in the 1600's, I know that in our country the idea wasn't really brought forth until 1872 by Julia Ward, and didn't really gain acceptance until Ana Jarvis further suggested it in 1907 and President Wilson made the offical ploclamation of Mother's Day in 1914. I personally don't remember my mother too much as I was yanked away from her and sold before I knew what was happening at all. I am lucky to have 2 daddies that more than take up the place of my mom though, so I just consider Mother's Day to be the first Father's Day for our small family. I do want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to our daddy's mom's and stepmoms (you too Barabara!). We all love their mommies like our own and are very happy that they are our Grandma's! Without them our daddies wouldn't be here, and we couldn't celebrate anything at all...ever!
You're right Ladee, I definitely want to say Happy Mothers Day to our daddies mom's as well as to our daddies themselves. They definitely do take care of all of us and make us the family that we are! I think we should also say Happy Mother's Day to our friends that are moms and especially to those having their First Celebration as a mommy. A special Happy Mother's Day goes out to Ann & Joyce for your first one Ever!!
IYah!! Happy Mother's day to all the mothers and the mother's to be! A special Happy Mother's Day to our friends who are celebrating their FIRST Mother's day! But, here's what I want to know? When's Dog Day?? There's Mother's Day and Father's Day -- but I don't see any Dog Day or Pet Day? According to history, there was a Dog Day celebrated in Egypt in 1642 in honor of Sphinxy, the loyal pet of Aden The Great. I think it's time for someone to bring back that ancient, and well-deserved tradition.
Actually I always consider July 3rd to August 11th as our days...Since they are named the Dog Days of summer and it's the most sultry time of the year. Since it was Named in early times by observers in countries bordering the Mediterranean, the period was reckoned as extending from 20 days before to 20 days after the conjunction of Sirius (the dog star) and the sun! How much more special can you get other than having days named after a star that represents us! Thank you Ann from "Cranford, NJ" for helping "Cleo" submit a reply.
Boy Ladee certainly has a lot of information in her brain. She needs to teach a history class! I am wishing everyone a very Happy Mother's Day! I especially want to wish extra happiness to all the mommies (female or male} that I know-especially my mommy, Joyce, Kim and my Nana. Dylan, Ladee, and Woofer, let us be especially nice tp our mommies, they try hard to keep us happy, healthy, and well feed. I hope that my moomy and Joyce are able to get a good night sleep so that they can enjoy the day! Thank you Rick for helping Dylan from "Jersey City, NJ" submit his "rebarks".
LaDee, your intelligence is turning me on!!!!!!!!! | ||||||
